From February 2 to February 5, 2026, Tishk International University successfully hosted the 6th Tishk International Book Fair in the Main Building. Organized under the supervision of the Dean of Students, the event was organized and coordinated by Mr. Hedi Mustafa, Events and Student Council Coordinator. The fair was held under the inspiring theme “From Reading to Awareness, From Awareness to Positive Change,” emphasizing the essential role of reading and education in shaping thoughtful individuals and progressive communities.
The book fair aimed to promote a strong culture of reading, encourage lifelong learning, and highlight how education can lead to positive personal and societal transformation.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Idres Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees, delivered an insightful speech stressing the importance of reading as a cornerstone of knowledge, awareness, and personal development. During his address, he also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the organizing team, as well as to all participating bookstores for their valuable role in making the event successful.
Following this, Professor Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of the University, presented an inspiring speech in which he reaffirmed the university’s strong commitment to education, intellectual growth, and creating meaningful learning opportunities for students.
The ceremony was also attended by an Assistant. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Ozdamir, Vice President for Academic Affairs, along with heads of departments, lecturers, student faculty representatives, and students.
The event was hosted by Shazad Hassan from the Computer Education Department, who shared valuable perspectives on how education and reading help develop enlightened individuals capable of spreading awareness and contributing positively to their communities.
Throughout the four-day event, the book fair attracted a wide range of visitors, including students, faculty members, and book enthusiasts. Attendees had the opportunity to explore a diverse selection of books across various fields, such as literature, science, history, and other academic and cultural disciplines, creating a vibrant environment for learning and exchange of ideas.
As part of the event, Appreciation Plaques and gifts were presented to participating bookstores in recognition of their valuable contributions and continued support for educational initiatives. The honored bookstores included Haval Bookstore, Cambridge Bookstore, Kultur Bookstore, Adiban Bookstore, and Balldar Bookstore.
In addition, Cactus Gallery and the university’s Alumni Business, Agha Store, participated by offering gift items, adding a creative dimension to the fair and strengthening collaboration between the university, alumni, and local businesses.
On February 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM, a General Knowledge Competition was organized as part of the book fair activities. The competition was prepared by the Career Development Center, coordinated by Mr. Hersh Omar, in collaboration with the Events Unit, coordinated by Mr. Hedi Mustafa. Around 90 students participated enthusiastically, and the top five winners were rewarded with valuable books, reinforcing the importance of curiosity, knowledge, and continuous learning.
Overall, the 6th Tishk International Book Fair was a great success, reflecting the university’s dedication to education, awareness, and community engagement. Looking ahead, the Dean of Students plans to expand the event in future editions by involving more bookstores and organizing additional panels to further promote reading and learning as key drivers of personal and societal growth.
