On February 15–16, 2025, the Art Club and the Dean of Students Office, in collaboration with the Interior Design Department at the Faculty of Engineering, organized a two-day workshop titled “Art as Therapy for Well-Being & Quality Education” under the theme Art as Therapy | A Day of Creativity & Well-Being at Tishk International University.
The workshop was conducted under the supervision of the club coordinators, Gala Abdullah Ibrahim and Bokan Asaad Hassan, with the dedicated support of three faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering:
•Mrs. Faeza Bakr, Assistant Lecturer
•Mrs. Aya Shukri, Assistant Lecturer
•Ms. Sara Mahmood, Research Assistant
The primary goal of the workshop was to promote mental well-being and inspire creative learning within the university community through painting and artistic expression. Participants were encouraged to explore their thoughts and emotions freely, using colors and shapes as a means of communication and reflection.
Throughout the two days, the sessions were held in a calm and welcoming atmosphere that encouraged focus, positivity, and teamwork. Students and staff actively engaged in the activities, sharing ideas and supporting one another. The environment fostered a sense of belonging and emotional comfort, demonstrating how creative engagement can positively influence both personal well-being and academic experience.
On the second day, a mini exhibition was organized to showcase the artworks produced during the workshop. The exhibition space radiated creativity and enthusiasm as attendees admired the diverse pieces on display and celebrated the participants’ dedication. Through a friendly voting process, Dr. Hannen, Research Assistant from the Faculty of Dentistry, received special recognition for her outstanding artwork.
By bringing art into the heart of university life, the workshop reflected TIU’s commitment to nurturing balanced development—supporting both intellectual achievement and emotional resilience. The event concluded with a strong sense of accomplishment and inspiration, reminding everyone that creativity is not only an academic pursuit, but also a meaningful pathway toward connection, healing, and lifelong growth.
