Tishk International University is pleased to highlight the inspiring professional journey of Mardin Majroom Dino, a 2023 graduate of the Civil Engineering Department, whose career reflects the importance of persistence, teamwork, and taking opportunities to grow.
After graduating from TIU, Mardin spent nearly 11 months at home before beginning her professional career as an HSE officer at The Boulevard. Within a few months, she progressed to Site Manager and contributed to the project’s handover. She later joined Edition Towers, where she worked first as an HSE officer, then as a Site Engineer, and eventually as a Site Manager.
One of the major milestones of her early career was successfully completing and handing over the first two floors of The Boulevard project. She also faced an important challenge when her manager left due to health problems, leaving her responsible for completing the remaining block and its handover process. Mardin responded by developing her own work program, organizing daily meetings with foremen, and ensuring that the work remained on schedule. The project was successfully completed and handed over on time.
Following her experience in construction and site management, Mardin took a bold step and established her own company, DINODAN Co., where she currently serves as Founder and CEO.
Reflecting on her time at TIU, Mardin credits the university with providing her with a strong academic foundation. She particularly values the teamwork skills she developed during her final years and the strong bond between lecturers and students. She also emphasizes the importance of internships and practical training, which she believes help graduates transition more confidently into professional life.
For current students, her advice is clear: take teamwork projects seriously, because professional life requires the ability to work effectively with others. She also believes that the construction industry is moving toward smarter project management, stronger safety standards, and greater use of technology in site supervision and planning.
Looking back, Mardin considers her first job one of the most important experiences in shaping the professional she is today. Her journey also taught her an important lesson: starting somewhere is better than staying at home.
“Start somewhere. Growth does not begin with perfection, it begins with courage.”
