Over 75 Students and Faculty Compete in Two-Day Swiss System Event
Tishk International University successfully organized its Third Chess Tournament as part of the university’s ongoing extracurricular activities. The event was launched by the Sports Unit of the Dean of Students and was open to both students and faculty members.
The tournament witnessed remarkable participation, with more than 75 students from various departments competing over the course of two days. The matches were held in the Dining Room on the TIU campus, providing an engaging and competitive atmosphere for all participants.
Tournament Format
The competition was conducted using the Swiss system format, consisting of nine rounds played over two days. This system ensured fair pairings and gave all participants the opportunity to compete in multiple rounds, enhancing both competitiveness and experience.
On the second day of the tournament, February 2, 2026, the competition intensified, as players demonstrated high levels of concentration, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship throughout the matches.
