Role of the Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (SRC) strives to improve the quality of student life for the entire student body. Elected by their peers, the SRC acts as an advocate for students, with Faculty Student Representatives (FSRs) taking charge of events and activities. FSRs work closely with the Student Experience Team to plan and organize social and cultural activities, including major events such as the Spring Festival, themed events like the Book Fair, and many other activities.

FSRs serve as the voice of students, representing views on academic and experience-related issues to the university. This provides students with a forum to voice their opinions while giving the university valuable feedback for future planning.

Objectives of the Faculty Student Representatives

The objectives for which the FSRs are established include:

  • Promoting and advocating the interests and welfare of students

  • Being informed of and representing the views of students

  • Encouraging the formation and successful management of student cultural, social, sporting, and educational groups

  • Encouraging student involvement in activities of the Dean of Students Office

  • Providing for and promoting student extracurricular activities and social events

  • Providing for the welcoming, orientation, and social engagement of new students

  • Promoting the multicultural student body by creating and supporting opportunities to celebrate and showcase TIU’s diverse cultures

  • Performing such other roles as may be determined by the Dean of Students

TIU’s Commitment to Student Life
